Links to Sites of Interest
You know the drill. I throw a couple of links up,
you follow them blindly or ignore them 'cos they've got names like "The
Yellow Crab" or something. So I'm going to write a small bit about each
site, describing why it's useful and interesting. If you want a big list
of links...use Google
or something.
Legend of the Five Rings Sites
-
The Imperial Libraries
of Otosan Uchi have the largest selection of Five Rings fiction on
the internet - including a few of my short stories. They're in the Dragon
section. The first few stories describe the effects of the Naga/Dragon
war on the familes of the Dragon. I liked two of the characters so much
that I adopted one - Kitsuki Hamesu - as my online persona, and wrote
another series of five stories where Kitsuki Hamesu and his pal have all
sorts of wacky adventures with ninja and naga, and end up killing each
other after abandoning everything they hold dear. I do not have
issues. Seth also let me borrow the backgrounds and some graphics for this
site.

Rikimaru's L5R
Humour Site is run by a friend of mine, and (more shameless self-promotion)
has some of my stuff up there. L5r seems to generate an awful lot of parodies
and vaguely funny stories. The best of 'em are probably Rich Wulf's Hidden
Chicken stuff, but there's more stuff on Rikimaru's site. Read 'em all.

The Shadowlands
Refuge of the Lion Clan is the best CCG news site. D'uh. There's something
incredibly addictive about Andy's site. You keep coming back and hitting
reload, hoping he'll have posted more news. CNN for the CCG.
-
The Dragon Clan homepage.
A nice site, bit skimpy on occasion. I'm a mediocre CCG player, but I try.
-
The House
of the Jade Lantern, which sort of inspired this site. RPGs are so...transient.
Even a theatre play has reviews to be remembered by. RPGs fade into the
neverness of gamer stories and urban legends unless we do something to
remember them by.
-
Shiba Toma's got an excellent
L5R rpg site. While I haven't used much of the stuff on the site, it's
nice to know it's there. It's also going to be updated soon. Watch this
space. Or, better, watch that space.
-
Yoritomo Kurak...Kurakaeh...Kurashahshsh...Gordon has a new l5r
site, with a wonderfully bilious background.
Other Sites
-
www.irishgaming.com
hasn't
much to do with l5r, but there are a few l5r convention scenarios available
for download there. More importantly, irishgaming.com has the infamous
igaming mailing list. If you're in Ireland, and want to know what's going
on, check out this site.
-
www.gamingoutpost.com
is my preferred gaming news site. It's got some once-lively and fun forums,
regular news updates, and the occasional good article. I run a fairly quiet
l5r discussion forum there. Oh - and El Wick, the guy who wrote l5r, hangs
out there flaming people. Always fun.
-
www.tasteslikephoenix.com
is
just...odd....but have a look at their reviews. Surprisingly insightful
and cogent reviews of some l5r stuff there. If I have time, I'll do something
similar to those reviews.
-
Memento Mori Theatrix has nothing
whatsoever
to do with L5R, but it's worth having a look at for the twisted ideas.
